Since my life as calmed down a bit... not a lot but enough now so I can probably concentrate on the Journal jar. I'm back to posting questions. Things aren't all rosey but when are they. At least now my mind is a little more focused. So lets begin again, and thank you all for waiting and the all the support you've given me.
Did you go to any college or technical training? Where? what did you study?
Right after high school I took a coarse at the technical college in our town, I studied to be a Medical secretary. My dream was to take some law classes, sign language, and Spanish, So I would be a very sought after secretary... that didn't happen. I got married soon after and had a baby.
Years later I began to take paralegal classes. I loved it, however, my funding was pulled so I was only able to complete one year. I hope someday I can go back...
** You know the drill... you can answer in the comment sections, or your own journal. If you are answering in your own journal please link your entry below so everyone can enjoy your writing! If you're new to the journal jar please let us know that also! **

I'm glad you are back for now, I hope things continue to get better. Here is my answer. ~Colleen :)
Oh yes I still have loans, lol. No actually I got rid of the final loan not too terribly long ago thank God. Northwestern University has a local (shreveport) campus and a much larger one in Natchitoches. Originally I started out in Natchitoches, hated it transferred back to Shreveport and started the Two Year RN program, which is really almost three years but hey they sucker you how they have to, lol. I stayed with it until midway through with clinicals, lacking very little before graduation and I dropped, lol. Yep dropped. I realized all too late that I couldn't carry that out because 1. I get to upset when people are hurting, sick, etc way too soft-hearted for that even though it doesn't seem that way, I am and 2. I hated it, lol. I hate blood, vomit, all that fun stuff and I knew there was noooo way I could do that plus I wanted to specialize and go into Neonatal Intensive Care but the first time I saw one of those precious babies I almost fainted it was more than I could bear so I dropped. Wasted almost three years and a few thousand dollars but it was an experience and who knows I may go back and finish what I started one day when my kids are older. Brandy
i hate school so idont want to go to college
I went to the Insurance School of Chicago, or was it Chicago School of Insurance? I can never remember which way it goes. This was an industry wide program that was designed to train new agents, acuarials, brokers, adjusters (I was in claims) to all companies. I tried to take courses in accounting, but couldn't stay awake through them. I also took classes to help train CCD teachers (this isn't a paid position). The insurance training helped me get better jobs, but after Ed was born, I retired from office work. I tried to be home with my kids. When that was too hard, I worked in retail in the neighborhood until I was able to pick up work from local newspapers.

I do remember taking a course to be better prepared to take the SAT's to get into college. Ironically enough I didn't even go to college.
I did go to broadcasting school for six months and was able to pay back my student loan with the money I made in broadcasting. Radio stations have changed alot (except in the smaller towns) since I was a DJ but at least I can have my own Internet station. I was also thinking about broadcasting from either my attic or basement but oh is that going to be a lot of planning - but hey it might be fun too!

i attended a local community right out of high school for two years and got an associates degree in nursing- took state boards and got my license as a R.N.- this also got me an associates in applied science. the next year i took gen ed classes and finished up my associates degree ain science then 2 years later got my bachelor's degree in nursing. since ive been in nursing ive taken many additional training courses to get extra credentialing in certain skills- like- i am certified to give chemotherapy and im certified as a high-tech infusion nurse- just extra training to take care of some more complicated patients. i have always toyed with the idea of wanting to teach nursing, that is until i saw the salary and that i would have to get a doctorate. but maybe i will go back for my master's and become a nurse practitioner- just dreams that's all
I started out with a computer course but dropped it because they were spending too much time on the history of computers. I didn't care about the history of them, I wanted to get my hands on one! LOL! I then started taking classes to pursue a degree in journalism, however, I got discouraged by the story of someone who pursued a journalism degree and came out and no jobs were available. I did take some night courses for medical terminology and transcription but again, the courses weren't living up to my expectations. I have had a few 1-day seminar type things for computers but I still knew most of what they were teaching me. Only one seminar for computer repair taught me anything. The software ones didn't. I thought seriously about pursuing a nursing degree, however, after working at the hospital, I realized that I wouldn't be able to perform the more physical aspects of the job. Thus ends any type of collegiate pursuits for me. ::sigh:: Hugs, Sheila
