Question 59... OUCH

How do you feel about dentists?

When I pulled this question, I busted out laughing.  I have no clue why, guess I didn't expect a question like this...
I do not like going to the dentist, however I love my teeth MORE then I dislike the dentist.  So I go every 6 months.  I don't like the smell of the office or the sound of the drill.  Just that sound makes my teeth hurt.
My dentist told me I brush my teeth too much, NEVER thought I'd hear that from a dentist.  But I guess you can brush your teeth so much it wears away the enamel so, I resist the urge to brush them constantly.

So although going to the dentist freaks me out, I'm glad he's there.  SMILE!

I go to the dentist twice a year. My hygienist is a gem! It's a necessary evil. Would like it a lot more if I could have the "laughing gas" every time anything major had to be done! Love that stuff!!

How do I feel about dentists? Hum, let me see now.....I like dentists about as much as I like plucking a long, thick eyebrow........ at 2 a.m. on a cold, rainy morning..... after waking from a nightmare about being chased by a snake with four long legs...... and my midnight snack of cold pizza, and stale beer is playing an off key concert in my innerts...... and my visiting mother-in-law is snoring between dribbles, on my new couch, in the living room........ and tomorrow I have an appointment to have an ingrown toenail cut out.
This is how much I like dentists.......

I reckon dentists are human, right? But for the life of me, I don't understand why they don't do something more exciting. Like maybe drill for oil, instead of drillin in my poor ole mouth. An those square headed needles. Ouch !!!!!!! Do they make them like that on purpose? But every dentist I ever spent time with had the same habit....with my mouth feelin like a slab a cold, raw bacon, an my tongue feelin like a chunk a yesterday's cold chicken, he would ask me a question, and expect an answer, all whilst he had both his hands, and one of his elbows, and sometimes one of his his feet, all crammed in my mouth.
But Lord love 'em, they shore earn their money, don't they? Don't they?
p.s. I'm new at this journallin stuff, but I'll get the hang of it, and get some stuff on my journal...so wait a spell and come see me.

i have pretty good teeth, so i really dont mind them, but yet when money was tight, i wouldnt go- in fact i put it off for about 10 years- until last year- but luckily i only had 1 cavity- when they filled it, however, he tried a different way of numbing it and drilled into the jaw bone to deliver the anesthetic-  and i ended up with a pretty good infection. well its been well over a year since ive been back so i guess i better call- gee thanks for the question LOL!!!!

Definitely not a fan of the mouth jockey.  Unfortunately he is a necessary evil for us all, hee hee. I do totally agree with Promise that a dentist office has a certain smell, sound and just the atmosphere in general are all the same as if they were taught this phenom in school.  My kids love going but then they have never had the drill as of yet, lol so we will see how long that love lasts.  Brandy
