Tell about a favorite childhood vacation.
I think all we really ever did for our vacations when I was a child was to go camping. Sometimes in tents other times in cabins. We always had fun though. I don't really have a favorite because they all sort of blend together.
I remember going to Duluth a lot in the summer to spend time with my aunt and uncle and their children. That was a lot of fun (for the most part) and I looked forward to going back.
We also spent a lot of time in Hibbing with my mother's (now ex boyfriend's) mother and aunt. She was like my grandmother.. I loved spending time with her.
Still no one memory stands out for me. Blocking most of my childhood out, I am hoping some more vivid memories come to mind even after I post this.

I saw your journal love it. I liked going to disney world as a kid and on all the rides. check out my journal please and leave a comment.
Thats a tuff one. I was lucky, we took vacations all the time. 2 weeks in June at a summer place in the Ozarks (Missouri) and then two weeks in August traveling to a destination. We got to go to practically every major attractions in the united
states. Those memories will last me forever.
We had an RV and would go camping that way every summer. Sometimes, it was to one of the amusement parks in Ohio, sometimes, it was to see my grandparents in Indiana (dad's parents). Once we went to DisneyWorld in FL when I was 11 but half the rides weren't even working and you had to buy these like "coupon books" that would say "one free ride in (this area of park)". It sucked. Another time, we went to Memphis and saw Graceland. Another time we went to Hartwick Pines Park in Michigan (I want to say Grayling, MI) - very beautiful!). It was a lot of fun and I really miss those times. I was just telling my mom that not long ago. John and I did a lot of camping (tents) when we dated but not since we've been married. If we had the room for one, I would love to get one of those pop up trailers and just go away for a while and see something new for a change. Thanks for the memories! Sheila
Here's mine! ~Colleen :)
Happy to have revisted this memory thanks!

my parents took us all over this country when i was young- i dont think i could pick a favorite. the other thing we did every summer in addition to a travel trip was to go fishing to our place in northern wisconsin- that is probably my favorite place to be- we still go there every summer now that im grown & my kids now are growing up sharing in the same memories. its a great way to relax on the boat, go shopping, go to movies, eat, sleep, fish, eat- did i mention eat??!!! anyways- it is always a good time- my dad who is a very uptight kinda guy even relaxes- well eventually relaxes. even my husband who didnt use to really enjoy the fishing part now loves to fish!!! there are just too many great memories to mention

I spent a lot of summers either on farms in Wisconsin where a lot of my family lives, or in a cabin in Cedar Lake, Indiana that my parents rented. My most memorable vacation as a kid though was when we went to Independence, Missouri. My Dad had written to President Truman from the time that the President and Mrs. Truman first came to Chicago. My Dad was an honor guard at a convention here. Anyway, Truman answered him back, and my Dad answered him. They kept up a correspondence over the years. Finally Truman invited my Dad to bring the family to Independence. We only spent a few minutes with the man. He was very, very old at the time. But it was something that stuck with me just because my Dad was so overwhelmed by the invite. We did the usual tourist spots on the way there and back, and then we headed to Wisconsin after to visit with family and talk about our trip.

FAVORITE CHILDHOOD VACATION? BOY THATS TOUGH I MEAN WHICH TRIP TO WEST VIRGINIA TO SEE REALTIVES SHOULD I MENTION..........3 TIMES EVERY YEAR
Ahhhh, the great outdoors..
This one is easy.. Every summer we would go to the catskills for a few weeks. I tell you, I loved it so much... It's where I got my love of the country, flowers, horseracing, and nature..I hated going home to N.Y when it was time to go. There was not a lot of T.V. or anything..just plain old fashioned lazing about, playing in fields, swimming, catching tadpoles, with weekend nights spent at the track, cheering on horses. It's my fondest memories of my whole childhood.

Picture this . . .
My mom wasn't exactly "vacation" type material but once she did drive my and one of my brothers down to New Orleans to pick up the oldest from college and from there we went to Pensacola, Florida for an entire week and though it rained for much of the week it was still neat to do that with them as any other "vacations" I took were for various hair shows and what not, nothing family, nothing fun. So we make sure we take our kids to our favorite places every year, being Arkansas but they love it and both Beau and I have lots of separate memories as teenagers going to these same places. Brandy
um we went to disney world i was 3 and the trip was free from make a wish foundation and i dont remember a few details like when i argued to get the top bunk and in the end i fell off and hit my head..um my dad chased us with frogs..and i got sick after a day or two so my brother had all the fun while i had to be pushed around
