question 35 ~ babysitters

Did your parents ever have a baby-sitter for you?  Were you ever left in someone else's care.

I really do not remember any baby-sitters when I was a kid.  She may have had one now and then, but nothing I would remember. Mainly when my Mom went out my older brothers took care of me.  Oh what a treat!  They would torture me constantly.  I had this stuffed dog (named Cotton) and a really fluffy kitty (dang if I can remember her name)  probably kitty.  Anyway, they would tie Cotton's ears together so tight it wouldn't come out, they once cut off the kitty's tail.  I was told never ever to tell my Mom or when she left the next time it would get worse.  When she had to try and get those ears untied I had to say I did it myself.  They were mean... they would lock me out side and hold my animals and blankie in the window doing mean stuff to them all.  I would be out there crying... sometimes they would let me in.  Other times they would let me in just a little bit before my Mom got home, making me promise not to tell.  I didn't of coarse ... they were bigger and had more power then me.
When I got older... and would come to family Christmas, they would hold me down and tickle me I HATED THAT!!  And then force oysters down my throat (I didn't like oysters at all)
You'd think I would be hating them.. but they did good things too, just not when they were baby-sitting.

I didn`t have alot of babysitters, my sister would watch me usually, she`s 10 years older than me. Thank God she never messed with any of my toys though. I`m traumatized just hearing some of those things your brothers did to your poor stuffed animals! LMAO

Oh yes, we had babysitters from time to time.  Usually my grandparents or my oldest cousin.  We had a lot of fun when they babysat.  I only remember one time when mom got someone that wasn't family to babysit.  She was the older sister of a playmate of mine.  Sheila

After my mom was divorced (the 2nd time) she was going to college and working a couple of jobs, so my younger brother and I had several babysitters.  One time this one girl who watched us only a couple of times brought her boyfriend over. He was not a very nice guy. He spanked my brother (who was 2 or 3) for no reason, leaving bruises and handprints all over him. My mom was furious! And rightly so. That girl never babysat us again. Other than that, my bro and I had pretty cool sitters. When I turned 12 or 13, I stayed alone with my bro, but Mom remarried when I was 13 anyway. Now that's a whole other story!... <: l

my father would come off his high and be crashed on the couch when he got home and be off when he awoke.

we rarely had babysitters- mostly my grandparents. we usually would stay over night on saturday night. my grandparents lived close to railroad tracks and  the sounds of the trains thru the night still soothe me to this day. grandpa would pop popcorn- the popcorn fairy (grandma) would come and leave us candy corn in our popcorn, we would spread an old tablecloth on the living room floor and watch loveboat and fantasy island. it was wonderful and has left me with some of the best memories of my life!!

My parents were so freaking boring! They never went anywhere. My mom was one of those *yawn* stay at home moms who was always there for you... would always have fresh baked cookies waiting afterschool and made sure my cheerleading uniforms were always clean and ready to wear. Even now... if I'm working late she'll stop by my house and clean up before I get home. heather

Is the Pope Catholic???  My mother was a habitual partier when we were kids so we were shipped all different directions.  I mostly stayed with this old lady who I called my Nanny.  Loved her dearly, she was the greatest woman ever.  She was fat, had so many wrinkles you couldn't see face but to me she was the most beautiful woman in the world because she took care of me like my mother didn't.  There was a major drawback and that was her damn sorry excuse of a grandson who was I think 20 when I was 3 and didn't know how to keep his hands to himself so you know the rest.  I never spoke of it until after my nanny died when I was 10, just endured it instead because I knew if I told I wouldn't have her anymore they would take me away from there and at that time I would have rather suffered than lose the only woman that I felt like loved me.  I know now she wasn't the only one but at the time it sure did feel that way!  Anyway, she was the best.

Ok. This is another one that I am just going to answer here. My parents didn't get get any babysitters for us. Mom was a stay at home mom until I was 12. By that time Dad was disabled and always home. The closest thing to having a babysitter or anything like that was when I was 13, I got to go spend the entire summer in Texas with my Grandma! That is another story, and I'll write about it in my journal one day.
