Question 111

Describe a favorite vacation.

Well, I used to go to some many places and do so much stuff.  Lately not so much.  Thinking of all the vacations I've had (when you think I guess some were not so much vacations as going to visit people) I loved when I went to New York to see J.  Those times were always special times. Never having to cook (which is ALWAYS a vacation for me) going out.  But the time J and I and his friends went to Las Vegas was probably my best vacation.  We stayed in this beautiful hotel... seen a few shows.. played in a few casinos but most of the time we were in the room... and it was soooo nice.  That was our best time together... even though people kept coming to our room... we still we're a couple then.  He was important to me and I to him.  I remember the feelings.  Yes it was fun but I think the love we had for one another was so intense on that trip.

Now when I was young we used to spend a few weeks every summer up at the same lake ... we rented cabins up there.  Those were good days.. when we were away from the everyday life ... we were a family back then.  I real family. Somewhere along the line that got torn apart. But thinking back to our days up at the lake. My dad (step dad) teaching me to fish.. I couldn't bait my hook (worms gross) I wouldn't take the fish off myself (eewww I wasn't touching that!) but my dad did it for me.  Must not have been too much fun for him.  This Christmas we got him a shirt that said "shut up and fish" He never said shut up.. just shhhh but it fit and brought back memories of fishing with my dad.  Yep I never stopped talking.  So he would say "shhh you'll scare the fish away".

So many good times this question brought back a lot of great memories!  Hopefully I'll be able to take a vacation some time in the near future!  Maybe try and get the whole family back  up to that lake!  (not that I can recreate the past.. but I can bring the past back at least the feelings and the fun)

As a child and teenager I would go to my grandparents cottage with them up north. I can't think of one bad memory, we would go to the lake and swim or skate depending on the time of year. Having fires, picnics, family reunions, going to my uncles to ride horses. Playing checkers and rummy with my Pa. The last time I went was to box up the stuff there, my grandparents weren't able to keep up the cottage anymore and my mom & dad and aunt & uncle didn't want to have to maintain it so it was sold.  I was so sad that no one wanted to keep it, I wasn't able to financially and I so wish I was, just so I could take my children and make memories for them.

my best vacations was when i lived in Minnesota, my sister got married when I WAS 14, and she moved to NY...after she moved, it was just me mom an dad. so every 4 or 6 months, atleasr 3 times a year, i would go and spend 2 weeks in NY with her. we did that for the first 4 years of HER married life, and every trip to NY got better and better everytime. they used to make a big deal of it, and they would all come to the airport when i had arrived. we traveled all over NY withen that 4 years, took road trips to canada even. and after that 4 years, she had her first child, and my trips stoped, it came down to once a year, because she got more busy, i started higgh school and had a job.
but, we have some good memoried to share with people, amazing pictures, funny embarrasing pictures to show. now, im married, i live in NY now, and we do it all over again. only we have 2 little ones to jonie in with us, my sister has 2 girls now, and every weekend, we go on road trips and take the girls to the places we have been. great times, and even grater memories.

My mother worked as a private nurse and every summer the family that she was working for would go to Ocean City so I had a chance to drive down there.    Even the stretch of road leading to Ocean City made me feel relaxed!  You could smell the ocean and hear the seagulls.  That was the first place I saw where people lived so close to the beach that they just put on their bathing suit and walked to the beach!  The houses had shower stalls outside and I couldn't figure out why until someone told me they were used to wash the sand off before one entered the house!

I don't have to tell some of you how relaxing the sounds of the ocean are!  I fell in love with the area and second to my own area that is where my beach house is gonna be!
