Describe your mother's wedding dress. What do you know about her wedding?
It's questions like this I want to put back in the jar and pull a new one out lol. But I don't. Sigh. So my mother's wedding dressES. My mother has been married three times. Twice before I was born and once when I was 12. I have never seen wedding pictures of the first two wedding. I've never heard her mention those weddings. They turned into very bad divorces that I think she doesn't care to discuss the wedding part. I CAN tell you what she wore for the divorces.. no just kidding. Her third wedding I didn't attend, because they went to North Dakota and got married by a judge. They stayed over night there and then came back in the morning. Little did I know at the time but the man she married would change my life many many years later! At first I hated him though. Poor guy! He somehow managed to break through my wall and now he is the only dad I really know! Okay I'm getting off track. Easy to do, and usually I just delete those parts of my entries but I'm going to leave this today because it needs to be there.

Oh wow, My Mum has been married four times, first to my Dad and then three times more ! It would have been five but her husband-to-be died ! He would have been no: 4 lol. I never attended any of her weddings but I have a photo of her first. Her dress was typical of an English bride in 1950. Very white, with a lacey type, floaty skirt with long elegant sleeves. Her veil was very long and floaty as was her bouquet which was very pretty with red and with roses and lots of fern. She made a beautiful bride but a very bad wife ! :-) Sandra xxx
My mother's wedding dress was knee-length. Her veil was short and very simple. She and dad got married at City Hall because the pastor of her church wouldn't marry them because dad had been divorced (even though it wasn't a Catholic church). My aunt (by marriage) Toni stood up for mom and dad's friend Joe was his "best man". Dad and Joe went to Vietname together. After losing contact for 30 years, I found Joe, alive and living in Florida for dad. That's pretty much all I know about it. Sheila

My folks got married at the justice of the peace, so I don`t really think my mom had a formal wedding dress.

My mother was married in 1951, in Jamacia NY. If I remember the story. She wore a white satin dress with the most beautiful beaded bottis I have ever seen, hand sown. As she was a fashion designer, she had quite a bit to say about the dress. It had long, tapered sleeves, a train which came off a full skirt about 6 feet behind her. I would pull out a photo but the alblum is packed away, as everything else is right now. (we are moving) . Low neck line. Her vail was white lace with a head band which had the same beading on it. It was beautiful. She was also. I just wish she was here to see me get married. She died in 1971.
To add: their reception was at the Downtown Athletic Club in Manhattan. The band was playing a song towards the end of the night. Someone came up to my grandfather and asked what the name of the song was. So, he says "Comeon to my house!" The old Rosemary Clooney hit.
Well. My mom said that when the reception ended, they did. They all showed up at my grandfathers house for a second party.
My mother and Father were married at the justice of the peace. She was 18 and he was 17. He quit school to marry her and the moved from a small town in Illinios, to a bigger town to start a new life.
They were always going to go back a recreate a formal wedding and repeat their vows, but my father passed away at age 55 before they could.
I just discovered your blog and I love it. You have a wonderful site here. I'm excited about starting. I just started with the first one and I'm going to work on catching up. This is just a great idea. Keep up the good work.

my parnets first wediing I attended ,She was pregnant with me and it was a secret so there proubably wasnt a wedding dress .They divorced when I was ten my mother got remarried when I was ten at my grampas farm she wore a hmm reveling dress to put it mildlyit was blue I then attending that wedding alos .
My dad was remarried when I was 15 teen I was in juvie my mother had finnallly got me taken away and they got married so I could live with them needless to say that wasnt a picnic.
There wasnt a wedding dress in that one either.
my mother got divorced agine when I was 22 I think and she has been trying toget remarried for years .

Well, I have a wedding picture of my mom and dad..the dress was different from what brides wear today, but it was cute.. don't know if it is because of the old time photography, but it looks kind of like a light lilac with embroidery, short sleeves and a shoulder length veil. She had a small bouquet of what looks to be orchids with wide ribbons trailing down.

my parents were married in 1968- my mom' s wedding gown was very simple- but when i look back at pictures- it still is classic and could be worn for a number of generations- it had very little beading- was white satin with a million of those beautiful white buttons up the back- it was long sleeves- they were married in november- she looked beautiful. my dad was in the airforce so he was married in his uniform and looked very handsome. they are still married to this day although they had many struggles during the early years. if you asked them today- they would both say they are each others best friend and they really are soulmates, i think. they had cake and punch reception next door to the church at the grade school gym, opened gifts, then went on a honeymoon for a couple days stay in wisconsin- just seeing the fall colors. they only had a couple days for their trip before he had to return to his air force base. they had a very long courtship- but got to see very little of each other- they met in high school dated for a couple months then he moved 60 miles away and would hitch-hike back to see my mom- no car- they wrote letters mostly- then he went into the service and was stationed in england for two years and north africa for one year- they tried to marry while he was over seas but the airforce wouldnt allow wives over there. i think their connection must have been strong because it survived all that time with just letters.
My mama had a pink dress...because her and daddy eloped. It was her friend and her son that was there with them. They had only known each other a month and that's been about...

My parents were married in 1937. It was during the Depression and just shortly after my grandfather passed. They didn't have a wedding. Instead they were married quickly, by a priest and in Church, but with only a handful of very close relatives attending. I don't know if they celebrated or not. Oh, and my mother wore a knee length red dress. My husband always teased her that she was the woman in red, Anna Sage. The woman who helped to set up John Dillenger when the FBI shot him.

Well my mom was also married 3 times. I wasn't born yet for the first wedding, but I have seen photos. Her first wedding was in 1970, so you can imagine the wedding dress... A white lace mini-dress and a big floppy hat! Her bouquet was a bunch of white daisies. Her second wedding was in 1974 and I was the flower girl. I don't remember much, but again, I have see photos. She wore a vintage 1940s dress, burgundy colored, and a vintage hat with veil. It was very elegant. And for her third wedding, she actually wore a more traditional gown, ivory colored, with a long veil. She has vowed never to marry again, as all three marriages ended in nasty divorces.
Can I have a new one??? lol. My mom was a threepeater who favored JP's and courthouses over churches and traditional. Even my wedding was a sad excuse for one, lol. Actually it was quite nice considering my family contributed nothing to it, my wonderful mother-in-law did it all and no, that time I am not using sarcasm, she was great and it was great. My mom sucks, lol. My mother-in-law had a beautiful handmade straight, form-fitted dress that is too beautiful for words to acurately describe.
