Question 12 ~ Attention sports fans!

What kind of sports did you play when you were young?  What was your favorite sport?  What IS your favorite sport now?  (playing or watching).

In 9th & 10th grade I was on the girl's basketball team.  I also was in gymnastics and played Tennis (not on a tennis team).  Somewhere in the middle of the basketball season in 10th grade I had decided I just didn't want to do this anymore.  I ended up becoming a cheerleader (a sport to some).  Cheerleading then became the only thing I did.  I quit playing tennis and I stopped gymnastics.  I was a great cheerleader, I actually still have my outfit and pompoms hehe.  :::doing cartwheels around the journal::::
I love playing baseball and basketball, although I'm not very good at either.  Due to my health right now, I'm not going to be playing much, but I'll go to the games, and do what I do best CHEER!
I love watching Baseball, football, basketball and Professional wrestling (It's not fake it's just predetermined!!)  I'm a very big Twins fan and of coarse the Vikings.  It's hard to pull me away from the TV during football or baseball season, but it can be done.

Hmm....sport yes !   I used to do gymnastics at school, I played hockey and rounders ( that`s similar to your baseball).  All types of athletics, sprinting, long jump etc.  As an adult I played Squash for years until I injured my knee when I was 40 and realised I had to give it up.   Now I love to watch soccer, tennis and most major sports really !   Sandra x

Dad got my sister and I involved in basketball when I was in about 6th grade.  We played for the city recreation department.  In Jr. High, I played for the school.  I had the opportunity to play for the high school team but practice started in August and it was incredibly hot and muggy and no a/c in the school, so I quit and went back to playing for the city rec. department.  It was a lot of fun though.  Most of the girls on the team went to my high school anyhow and our coach was the father of two of them.  He was the best...like a dad to all of us.  Other sport-type things I enjoyed but only as something fun to do were throwing a frisbee around and bowling.  Even now, being in my late 30's, I don't mind shooting hoops with the hubby.  We just don't do it enough for it to be beneficial to my health.  I love watching baseball either on t.v. or in person but I'm only partial to the Detroit Tigers' games.  We have a nice little baseball rivalry here at home as hubby is a Cleveland fan (boooooooooo!!!!).  Sheila

I grew up in a sports household. My dad is a former pro-baseball player.  The sport I played in my elementary years was basketball on a rec league.  Middle school switched to cheerleading and track.  High school dropped the cheerleading but continued with track and added field hockey all 4 years.  Now I play golf and even find myself watching it more and more on t.v. if I have the chance.  Not much into watching football anymore, but watch tennis and gymnastics and soccer.  Rarely do I catch much unless it's the olympics because our schedules are busy.

When I was young I loved boxing and pro wrestling. I played basketball throughout jr high and highschool, my parents used to give me crap cuz the only time I wanted to shovel snow was to clear the basketball court. These days I`m all about the nascar, go #8, I can`t even drink MGD any more cuz drinking Rusty Wallace`s beer would be just plain wrong! Gotta go with the Budweiser! LOL

I loved Volleyball...was on a team in high school.  I still watch when the olympics has it on.  I can't play like that anymore but I wish I could.....also roller skating the old fashioned way in a roller rink with wooden skates & wooden floors..don't forget the organ music!  Sandi

I rode horses...I showed them and trail rode. I did eventing and barrel racing.

I still love horses and riding.  My current sports are not really "sports" per se....I train in two martial arts, Tai Chi and Aikido...

Great idea for a journal!!

Total Sports Nut, I played football, baseball, basketball, hockey.
I played football and wrestled in High school.
I Loved Football................    GO STEELERS
I am very lucky that my children play sports. And I help coach some of their
teams. The thing I like about is, that sports is tied to academics.
If your grades are not up, you cant play sports.
You have to have that balance.
Now Days:  I only golf, billairds, bowling, etc.
Only sports an old man like me can handle.
My favorite sport to watch is "College Football" and the Olympics.

When I was very young, I remember playing basketball. As I got older, remember watching hockey with my dad, and loved it.. trying to keep your eye on the puck..whew.. that was not easy!!  We spent our summers in the catskills, so I have a great love of horseracing. My favorite sport now is keeping up with my 5 year old.. hee hee.. :)
By the way, I went to see the gates today, by the way..it was great!! I put pics up on my journal..let me know what you think :)

I wasn't very involved with athletics in school, although I did some running on my own time. I'm not much of a sports fan now, either, but I do occasionaly watch NFL and some college basketball.

I took dance and gymnastics for years and also was in competition cheering for a few years then went to just a varsity cheerleading team at my school.  Now my favorite sport has to be football because my son is playing now and it is just so much fun to go to the games and YES, I turn into a screaming lunatic cheering for them boys and the saddest part is it was a flag football team of 5-6 year-olds but you would have thought I was cheering along an NFL team.  I can't wait until this season starts up so I can be psycho mom again, lol.  I also enjoy watching the girls take gymnastics.  If I could just teach my oldest child some rhythm, lol....

I didn't think to mention in my entry, but I did take dance lessons for several years, and I guess that could be considered a sport.....sort of. I certainly put just as much practice time in as most athletes, if not more!
